The Russian child’s game, Voinushka, or little war is a great game for little boys and gives them the necessary exercise they need. Though the typical voinushka was either a dacha game for urban Russian children or often played by children in rural areas all over Russia, Ukraine, or Belarus.
Many American and European children, however, live in urban and suburban areas, where there is not much room to run around, yards are smaller, etc. This of course is not the ideal area for voinushka, however, with the growing number of children playing Call of Duty in their parent’s living room, this is a great way to get them outside.
Urban voinushka is Call of Duty brought out to the outside
What is the main genre of Call of Duty? Urban warfare, thus children already know very well what urban warfare is and already know that their favorite characters are engaged in urban warfare.
So, what is needed for urban or suburban voinushka? Well, some toy guns obviously and some military style clothes. That’s basically it. There is only one caveat with urban voinushka, however. Most urban and suburban areas do have high traffic areas which can be dangerous for children playing in the street.
