Meteorites are debris from asteroids, comets, etc. that survive impact with Earth’s surface. Though you’d think that they’re very rare to find, they actually aren’t. Around 37,000-78,000 tons’ worth of meteorites hit Earth each year. Most meteorites that hit Earth aren’t that big, though. Still, it’s possible to find meteorites that you can see with your naked eye – you can even find some in your own backyard!
